The original file was created by loading the Harris and Chambers county rail lines into one file file named (BT_Rail_Line).The original files were downloaded from the Texas Railroad web site. The combining of the appropriate features to one file for the ETJ area of Baytown allows changes to be made quickly and easily. There is no need to keep downloading the up to date files from Texas Railroad due to the continual changes to the lines that the commision files do not have in there files. Thus making this file the most up to date Rail line file for the Baytown area. My position requires that I monitor the on going developments in the City which allows me to manage and update the Rail line file. The file consists of present day rail lines along with past spurs and prewar lines to denote existing Rail Road right-of-ways that still exist today. |
