The original file was created by loading the Harris and Chambers county rail lines into one file file named (BT_Rail_Line).The original files were downloaded from the Texas Railroad web site. The combining of the appropriate features to one file for the ETJ area of Baytown allows changes to be made quickly and easily. There is no need to keep downloading the up to date files from Texas Railroad due to the continual changes to the lines that the commision files do not have in there files. Thus making this file the most up to date Rail line file for the Baytown area. My position requires that I monitor the on going developments in the City which allows me to manage and update the Rail line file. The file consists of present day rail lines along with past spurs and prewar lines to denote existing Rail Road right-of-ways that still exist today.

Desceprancies occour in the precise locations due to the aerial photography having a 4 to 10 foot accuracy in some cases. Corrections to the lines are completed when GPS or other survey data is acquired for other data sets then used to increase teh precision of t he rail lines. </SPAN></P><P><SPAN>2021-01-29 Bob - The file continues to be updated in both Harris and Chambers County using aerial information.
